I’m not a fan of big cities. I try to avoid them and escape to the less crowded smaller towns. I imagined Manila as a congested and dark city. So I tried to exclude it from my stopover in the Philippines. But, I kind of had no choice. I had to stay overnight to catch my morning flight to Palawan islands. So, I looked for a hotel that was close enough to the airport but not the typical dull airport city hotels.

Then I found The Henry hotel. It looked perfect to me. The location was convenient and the reviews were great. I made my booking for the first night before heading to Palawan and the last night after coming back from the island to head home.

First Stay
After a very long trip from China and Korea (I’ll blog about this later!) I arrived to The Henry Hotel. It was so warm and welcoming I immediately felt like I was home. Even though I only had few hours to settle down, shower and sleep but I really felt so relaxed and recharged. It rained the whole night but I slept like a baby.

Second Stay
On my second stay at The Henry I decided to book the Garden room. It was only one room standing alone in the garden. The design was urban and chic.

Again, my stay was short but this time I had time to explore the hotel and try the restaurant. The food was so good. There were many items I wanted to try.

I’ll defiantly return to The Henry if I ever come back to Manila. I loved the design of the hotel, it had a colonial feel to it. Staff at the hotel are very helpful and welcoming. Highly recommended.
