A few months ago I received an invite from Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa to try their most celebrated jewel of a resort, Al Husn. The activities mentioned on their website included dolphin watching therefore I decided my best companion for this trip is my 8 year old nephew!
We took the afternoon flight to Muscat and reached Muscat International Airport an hour or so later. Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort is 45 minutes drive from Muscat International Airport.
We took a taxi (no other option unless you feel like driving) and reached the resort just in time for dinner, we had delicious Omani seafood and crashed. Next day started really early. I was eager to explore the resort so I woke up at dawn. It was a beautiful and peaceful sunrise I can still close my eyes and imagine the sounds of birds flying over my balcony.
Our first adventure started early. We went for dolphin watching and we were lucky to spot few dolphins. I was happy and nephew was also happy.
We spent the rest of day chilling at the resort. The lazy river was so much fun I might have enjoyed it more than my nephew! The whole resort is really huge with many activities for children and adults. A walk on the beach is energizing specially when weather is good.
Though all the activities were fun however I was really looking forward for some spa time. Everything turned out better than what I had in mind. I left my nephew at the slides playground in the Omani Heritage Village set 5 minutes walk outside the resort. I was worried that he might get bored while I’m at the spa but in fact he enjoyed the slides so much I had a hard time taking him out!
It was a perfect weekend and a perfect resort. I will definitely revisit soon.
