Months and months of working on this Multimedia project has finally come to an end. It all started back in May when I attended Ajmer Sharif Urs part of The Travel Photographer expedition “The sufi Saints of Kashmir and Rajasthan”. We spent around a week in Ajmer to cover Urs Ajmer Sharif, an annual commemoration of the death anniversary of Sufi saint Khwaja Garib Nawaz, and celebrate the memory of Sufi saint Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer, India. It is the largest commemoration of Sufi saints in India, attended by many thousands of South Asian Muslims.
You could imagine the number of photos a photographer would click in such a busy and culturally rich environment. It literally took me months to go through the photos and decide on the storyline I’m satisfied with. The audio as well took a lot of time to edit and pick the parts that would go with the story I wanted to share.
Although photography in Ajmer Sharif dargah is not possible without a prior permission, we did get our media entry pass thanks to our fixer Tahoor Bhai so huge thanks to him for arranging our entry. This project by far the biggest multimedia slides that I worked on and I hope to do similar photojournalism projects in the future :)
