Ghada Ghanem was born to Lebanese parents. Her father, a poet, was the Librarian of the Lebanese Army. Her mother was the Principal of a government school for forty years.
Ghada attended school at Notre Dame de Jamhour. She then joined the Lebanese National Conservatory where she earned her Diploma in Classical Singing and Opera. At the request of her parents, Ghada also enrolled at St. Joseph University in Beirut in 1982 from where she received her B.A. in French and Lebanese Law in 1987.
“Known as a fanatic of Bel Canto, in Western and Near Easter classical music, Ghada Ghanem is a ‘cantatrice’ and a technician of the art of “vocalises’. Awarded from the NY Wagner Society and the Metropolitan Opera, she is also known to have a mixture of the toughness of Asmahanb, the tenderness of Leila Murad and the nostalgia of Feiruz.”
And here is some shots and video I managed to take during the concert. All were taken with the iPhone4s camera.
